During the Fall 2013 quarter, I completed a practicum at the Southwest Museum’s Braun Research Library, in which I inventoried and wrote a preliminary assessment of the library’s audiovisual materials. Prior to my practicum, these materials had never been inspected.

Using the information gathered from the inventory and assessment, my classmates Lauren O’Connor, AJ Lawrence, and I wrote a proposal for the National Endowment for the Humanities, “Preservation Assistance Grants for Smaller Institutions.” If awarded, the grant will fund the rehousing of the film and VHS materials, the purchase of new storage furniture, and the hiring of a preservation consultant to write a more detailed assessment of the materials.
